Light painting stick with idiotware shield

In this project, I am going to demonstrate how to make cool light painting stick with ws2812 RGB led strip.

Things used in this project

Hardware components

  • Arduino UNO x 1
  • Idiotware Shield x 1
  • USB-A to B Cable x 1
  • Generic Jumper (0.1″) x 1
  • NeoPixel strip x 1
  • sd card 1GB to 8GB x 1
  • camera x 1
  • 9V 1A Switching Wall Power Supply x 1

Software apps and online services

  •  Arduino IDE

Story

Traditionally these images have been hand-painted with a penlight. But more recently, affordable micro controllers and addressable RGB LEDs have brought a new high-tech twist to the idea.

Working

The Light painter stick has 144 leds to show 144 lines per meter of motion, to match the pixel density of the NeoPixel strip.

One must experiment with speed settings on the control board or try a different walking speed.

The human element means it will change from one photo to the next or even across the frame in a single picture.

You can now paint in the Air with light painter stick!!!!

You need a camera with long exposure setting, so that you get the image.Keep experimenting with it and try different animations or gif files.

No more connecting things to breadboard and messy wiring. With the idIoTware shield the sky’s the limit.
